Personal

Michael is the second oldest of four children. He has an older sister, Kristen, and two younger siblings, Erica and Andrew. His younger siblings have both shown interest in the film industry, both appearing in several commercials.

His parents own two dance studios in New York and Los Angeles called "Reflections in dance" where his oldest sister is a teacher.

Michael attended Catholic school, where he was an Honor's student, until his graduation in 2006, and actually missing his Senior Prom to film a death scene!
High school is where he picked up the nick name 'Angie' because his Spanish teacher could not pronounce his last name.
He managed to stay in High school alongside his filming commitments and has said this allowed him to maintain a normal balanced life and a core group of friends. Allowing him to fully separate home life with life on a film set.

In his spare time, Michael likes to play basketball and baseball. He plays the guitar and also knows how to play violin, a skill which he learned for his role in Music of the heart.

Michael enjoys music from Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and The Rolling stones, as well as other classic rock and even some rap.
His favorite movies include Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Godfather and Back to the Future.

He has said he would one day hope to work alongside actors such as Robert Deniro, Russel Crowe and Al Pacino.

Career

Michael's first taste of stardom came at the age of five when he modelled in an advertising campaign for his parent's dance studio. He later modelled for 'Ford models' before making his way into TV and Film.

His first TV appearances included a short but sweet commercial for Hallmark cards and Mc Donald's, before later moving on to star in Cover me and the popular show, Will & Grace as Jack's son.

Other TV roles include appearances in 24, ER and Summerland

Almost famous in 2000 gave him his first real experience on a film set, and was later followed by other small films roles in Little Secrets, Sea biscuit and the straight to TV movie, Speak.

Michael's real break in the film industry came with his role of 'Sid' in Lords of Dogtown. He has said the experience of acting alongside such a big cast, which included the likes of Heath Ledger, Emile Hirsch and Johnny Knoxville, really helped him to learn more and grow as an actor.

Michael won a Poppy award for Best Supporting Actor at the end of 2005 for his portrayal of Sid.

Sky High, One Last thing and Bondage followed, between 2005 and 2006.

2007 saw him take on roles in Snow Angels, Man in the Chair , The Final Season and Black Irish.

His role in Black Irish in 2007 was recognized with a Time Warner award for Best Actor.

2008 saw the release of he The Forbidden Kingdom, starring film veterans Jackie Chan and Jet Li. A film which required him to train hours a day in martial arts to perfect the role. As well as the end of production on Noah's Ark: the New beginning and Gentlemen Broncos, both still awaiting release.
